Williams Films is a small independent production business committed to creating high quality film, television and digital content for domestic and international distribution. Our primary focus is factual programming aimed at stimulating, discussion and/or change. Williams Films is based in Queensland and run by husband and wife team Robin and Paul Williams. Robin’s Writer/Producer and factual Director skills compliment Paul’s sound recording and editing skills, with both also experienced and competent on camera.
Writer / Producer / Director
Story telling is part of Robin’s DNA. ‘Every person you meet, and every thing you see has a story and I have a I have a lifelong fascination, and deep overwhelming desire to discover, document and share those stories”. She was gifted her first camera as a 6 year old and wrote her first story at 9. After well over 30 years experience as a professional photographer and radio and newspaper journalist, Robin ‘returned to school’, secured an accelerated degree in Film and Television and is now pursue her long time dream and passion to make documentaries.
Sound / Editing
Upon leaving school in the mid 1970’s, Paul joined Channel 9 in Brisbane and over the next few years learnt the ins and outs of the television industry from the ground up. Audio however was always his main passion so he moved to Channel 7 in Sydney to specialise in sound and was a senior audio director on shows such as A Country Practice before the age of 25. Choosing not to raise a family in Sydney, Paul relocated to the NSW Mid North Coast in the mid 1980’s where he ran a private recording studio, worked for various community and commercial radio stations and had his own business before moving his family back to his home state of Queensland in the late 1990’s. Paul spent the last 15 years working for the ABC in Brisbane and the last 2 ‘unofficially’ helping with Robin’s projects.
